Is CNN's Former News Anchor Lou Dobbs Planning A Run For The Presidency?

Leedog Lou Dobbs seems to have a lot of time on his hands after just being let go from CNN (Lou states that he and CNN came to a "mutual understanding" concerning his departure). I would have thought by
now, that Fox News would have jumped at the chance to get such a seasoned veteran in cable news industry like Dobbs? I guess not. The only credible offer given was by Bill O' Reilly, stating that Lou could do some special appear-ances on Bill's show "The Factor." I was surprised, I wouldn't expect O' Reilly to share the spotlight with anyone, Bill may not want the competition from Dobbs of being the top Hot-Head over at Fox News. Also, I was surprised that the sometimes desperate for ratings Fox Business Channel didn't sign Dobbs to a contract. They brought over Imus and Stossel, I'm sure they could squeeze Lou Dobbs in there somewhere. But again, no big contracts announced. It seems there aren't to many places left for Dobbs to go, especially now that the "Big 3" (FOX, CNN and MSNBC) want nothing to do with him. The only option Lou Dobbs has left... go political.

Now that his cable news career maybe put on hold, Lou is thinking about taking a run at the New Jersey Senate seat currently being held by Robert Menendez. If Lou could win the Senate seat, stay in the Senate for a couple of years, then make a run to claim the Republican nomination, Dobbs may have a legitimate shot at winning the Presidency. Obama was able to accomplish this in a very short time. I believe Lou Dobbs resides in the fine State of New Jersey and may have first-hand experience in knowing what the problems are that the state has to deal with. After the recent Republican gubernatorial win, the state seems to be shifting to the "right" and with Dobbs being an Independent (who in my opinion, has Conservative values), the people may find what he has to say compelling.
The downside to a Lou Dobbs run at the Presidency would be some of the more controversial statements
he has made on his show. Every opponent Lou would face in an election has a mountain of video to use against him on some of his most controversial stances. I'm also not sure who would vote for Lou? Sure, he has the old-white voters but that's about it. Lou has proven countless times during his shows that he's against issues concerning minorities, women, homosexuals and everyone else who may have a progressive point of view. So, unless Lou Dobbs moves towards the "center" on some of these issues, he may have a tough time even winning a primary... let alone the Presidency!
