The Daily Show's Jon Stewart Voted Most Trusted Newscaster In America?

Due to the recent passing of the legendary newscaster Walter Cronkite, TIME magazine conducted a poll asking who's the most trusted newscaster in America. The results were a little sur-prising, with the Daily Show's Jon Stewart taking first place with 44% of the vote. NBC's nightly news anchor Brian Williams finished in 2nd place with 29% of the vote. While ABC's news anchor Charlie Gibson was 3rd with 19%, and CBS' news anchor Catie Couric finished last in the voting with 7%. I can understand Jon and his show having a younger crowd due to the show's good writers, and the broadcast news anchors may seem a little stale or boring, but COME ON! If a major portion of our society is getting its news concerning the important issues we're facing together as a nation from him... we're in deep trouble! Who were these people voting ... and what were they thinking? God bless the man, and may he rest in peace, but Walter Cronkite must be turning in his grave!

Jon Stewart and his show are not providing the news... they're mocking it. Every night it's the same thing, they have fun with the news and politics of the day. Most of the time with a liberal spin to it. Are these funny little skits based in fact like the actual news outlets provide? No! The show and Jon Stewart are not meant to be taken seriously. They never had any credibility. Jon Stewart and his clown-like act are strictly provided for entertainment purposes. He knows it , and I thought most of his viewers knew it... that is until I saw this new poll. The only time that I've ever seen Jon Stewart take something seriously is when he was yelling at CNBC's Jim Cramer about the economic down-turn. Another stunt to just get some publicity, like he actually believed Jim Cramer could have stopped all this from happening or should have warned us? Who would have believed him in the first place... he's NUTS! Jon was just mad that he lost money like the rest of us and needed someone to blame.

Jon Stewart is good at what he does and has some great writers working for his show. To say that he can be trusted to supply America with unbiased news is another thing. His act is no different than Letterman, Leno or O' Brian...they're all comedians just siting behind a desk trying to be entertaining. There's a huge difference between what an actual newscaster does and what Jon Stewart does. So let's not inflate Jon Stewart's ego more than it already is.

And who the fuck are you?

Jon Stewart is the only person on TV I Trust.

the poll asked who was "most trusted" , not what style the show took. I trust John Stewart more than any other person on Television because most people who watch his show have given up on old media because they hide their biases and don't present information in an appealing way.

Leno and Letterman wouldn't skewer Jim Cramer as he clearly deserved and for that matter nor would Charles Gibson or Brian Williams.

your obviously not a very good television critic if you blame these numbers on the American people and not the Archaic top down Media monopolies not adapting.

Who's side are you on?
